Do I need a changing table for new baby?
I don’t have any friends with young kids or babies so I don’t have anyone to ask. I’ve also run out of room. Do I absolutely need a changing table for our first arrival or can I use a rather large dresser with a changing mat on it?
No.
We only change ours on the floor. You have to get down with them to play anyway, just change them at the same time. They do tummy time and other play on a blanket or mat on the floor. Just change them in the same location.
Changing tables etc. are dangerous anyway, babies can fall off when you reach for powder etc. It happens often. Why not change them on the floor where they can’t fall down? And your going to need a location on the floor for playtime anyway. If it is in the way of moving around, just pick up the mat/blanket when not using it.
We use cloth diapers so we just stick a prefold under their bum when we change them. We always have lots of clean prefolds on hand for spit-up, diaper changes etc. They work for most everything! Best rags in the world.
